Cree Lighting Eliminates Office Roles in New Layoff Round

Cree Lighting announced a second round of layoffs impacting its Racine, Wisconsin facility. Twenty-eight positions were eliminated on May 14, according to a federal notice. These cuts primarily affect office and support roles, including tax, graphic design, and marketing. The company cited "unforeseeable business circumstances" for bypassing the 60-day notice requirement. This action follows 172 manufacturing job cuts made in March.

Advice/Intel from anyone who has been laid off

Hi, I have been feeling super nervous about some of the things I have been hearing around re-orgs within the company and am fairly certain my position will be eliminated.

For those of you who have recently been laid off by CVS for that matter, hoping you can share some wisdom..

How did the process go?
Did you get your bonus from the previous year (if you are eliminated before it is paid out)?
Were you given adequate resources to find another role internally?
Anything specific I should ask the HR person if I do get notified?

Any intel would help. I can see the writing on the wall and trying to get myself as prepared as possible. Thanks in advance!

Tech

My service position was eliminated after 37 1/2 years! I was planning on retiring in a few years, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise! I landed a great job that respected my field service experience with far better pay! I wished Ricoh had laid me off years before!

The grass IS greener, if your not actively looking to leave Ricoh, you should be! I wasted way to many years in this dying industry.

Orange county, California

The VP of Group Ops and the Medical Director made their rounds this morning. Eight primary care sites in Orange County, California were notified today, midweek, mid-morning that they will be closing effective December 5, 2025. They will be consolidating the clinics, shifting providers/staff into the few remaining sites.

Apparently, they were told no one would be let go and only reassigned to the other sites. Unsurprisingly, this was a lie. Positions were eliminated. Support staff were told they'd "try" to find other positions for them to fill, knowing full well we've been in a hiring freeze for the past year. The remaining staff in the OC are completely disgusted by leadership. Morale has never been worse. Their twisted idea of patient care means that thousands of patients are being told their doctor’s offices are closing in two weeks.

They allegedly hire the most experienced, most educated people to fill leadership roles, who get paid handsomely for their positions... and the best idea they could come up with is to RIF a bunch of staff right before the holidays, on a Thursday morning, expecting them to provide excellent patient care the next day and every day after until they're let go? Let's squeeze them more and more and see if their eyes pop out....

Attention: store level H.R., working 7-3,8-4, or 9-5 mon thru Fri

If you are a full time H.R. and/or H.R. lead working mon-Fri. 7-3, 8-4, or 9-5. Your position is in danger of being eliminated by March 2026, just like the aforementioned post, a list is being compiled and that position is in great danger of being eliminated, and store managers will most like absorb those tasks.

Store Level Position RX Made Unavailable

We were recently informed on a call that all cross trained store positions are going away.

Current cross trained store level employees are being given a "choice" of pharmacy or front store. But with hours the way they are not sure how this will work. Especially once the new year starts.

TCS is generouns - see other firms who sacked thousands silently

Tech Mahindra cut 10,669 positions for “portfolio rebalancing.” Oracle India reduced over 100 roles in September 2025 to support its “AI-driven product strategy.” HCLTech shed 8,080 employees largely due to divestitures and realignments. Accenture’s global cuts of 11,000 roles included a significant impact on India, aimed at “reinvesting in AI and digital transformation.”

Cognizant eliminated 3,500 positions globally to “simplify organisation and improve delivery speed.” IBM India dropped around 1,000 roles during its pivot to hybrid cloud and AI, while Capgemini India cut 800 jobs to align with “evolving client demand.”

Boulder County - 90 cuts

Boulder County, is eliminating 90 positions due to a budget deficit, including laying off 31 employees and cutting roughly 60 vacant jobs. The county is also offering a voluntary severance package through December 1.

Additional workforce reductions are expected at the Boulder County Housing Authority and Boulder County Public Health, though exact numbers have not been finalized. County officials said these changes are part of a broader plan to close a structural budget gap, with projections showing spending will outpace revenue without cuts of $30 million to $40 million over the next three years.

The 2026 proposed budget includes a $13.2 million general fund cut, affecting staffing and $4 million in operating expenses. While hiring freezes are in place, the county will maintain commitments to staff the jail’s new alternative sentencing facility and expansion.

Officials cited inflation, uncertain state and federal funding, and volatility in property and sales tax revenues as key pressures. Department heads were instructed to prioritize equity and the county’s strategic goals when determining positions to cut.

My Two Cents on Citi Layoffs

The way Citi is handling layoffs is beyond disrespectful. Getting a random unexpected call saying your position is eliminated, with no clarity on severance, is barbaric. The uncertainty is hanging over those still working, waiting for their turn. It's clear to everyone, yet management acts oblivious.
I've been through layoffs before, and there's a right way to do it—team meetings, advance notice, incentives to stay and help with the transition. Citi has the resources but chooses greed instead.
They don't seem to realize this will backfire.
If they don't start treating people like human beings, they'll regret it. I'm ready to speak up and go to the media if needed. I've got nothing to lose by standing up for what's right.

November layoffs

Seattle Children’s Hospital will lay off more than 150 workers this fall, blaming the cuts on the loss of federal funding.

The hospital confirmed Wednesday that 154 employees will be laid off and 350 open positions will be eliminated, effective Nov. 15.

Top earners & folks getting close to their 20-year pension

They say they’re eliminating positions, but over the past 16 months, it’s become clear that long-tenured employees—especially those close to 20 years of service and eligible for pensions—are being systematically let go. Higher-paid leaders have also been removed. There seems to be a clear trend of replacing experienced, older employees with younger, less experienced hires who cost less. The current leadership has created a toxic environment, and the company appears to be in decline.

Can someone explain WARN act timing?

The Mercury News reported two WARN act filings by Oracle - disclosed on August 13, filed again on August 14.

"Oracle America is cutting 101 positions in Santa Clara, the company revealed in a WARN notice filed with the EDD on Aug. 14. These staffing reductions come on the heels of a disclosure by Oracle on Aug. 13 that it had decided to cut 188 jobs, consisting of a loss of 143 positions in Redwood City and 45 in Pleasanton."

Does this mean that the disclosure layoffs (Aug 13) already happened but the filed (Aug 14) layoffs have up to 60 days to execute?
