Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Where my energy goes now

I used to stay late, work through breaks, and constantly push harder thinking it would eventually lead somewhere. All it really did was convince management I could handle even more work without getting anything back for it. These days I save my time and energy for my actual life instead of pouring everything into a company that barely notices.

Exactly. The company does nothing extra for us, there’s no need to do extra. I do my job, take pride in my work, but if you’re going to force me into a commute for optics and not really for productivity, I’m not the going extra mile. Life is too short for BS.

This is Robin’s special sauce ingredient:

Using fear and subtle threats of job loss to make you perform nights and weekends.

Many of us now play the sound track of Genesis’s ‘Don’t care anymore’ when we come in here.
Only a fool goes above and beyond here because you just can’t win. And as for receiving a “does not meet expectations” rating, so what? They are going to do it to you one way or another. Just do your job for the 8 hours and if stuff piles up you say ‘where is Eliza in helping this?’ And ‘my health and work balance are supposed to be your priority Mr. big time manager… and it is you and BNY who are not meeting expectations!’

@aq, I’d love to do that, but I’m currently being asked to manage a workload that would normally be handled by two or three people. At the same time, I’m being told that if I don’t meet every deliverable, I risk receiving a “does not meet expectations” rating.

Show up. Do your job. Take your lunch. Go home on time. Get outlook and teams off your phone.

You get paid 40 hours. Do 40 hours. No more. No less.

100% agree! Especially since we were forced to come back to the office 4 days a week.
And when i leave the office i put myself as 'offline' so it's a clear. I can't stand it when people put themselves as 'away' when they're clearly no longer working.

And whilst i'm ranting, why do US folk put in their out of office messages to 'call their cell if urgent'.

Same, I’ve been spending way more time with family, going to the gym a lot and even some video game time.
I worked super long hours last year and even got a good year end review, but still a 2% salary increase.
Not doing that anymore.

Felt like a 🤡
It’s just not worth it
