Has anyone heard what they are going to do about 7/3? The 2026 holiday calendar shows 7/3 as a holiday but we have never observed the Friday before when a holiday falls on a Saturday. We usually get a float day. The federal reserve, DTC and everyone else is open on 7/3 so wondering if we are really going to be closed.

Sheesh chill out. OP seems to be in an area that could require working an Observed holiday. This is not the situation for everyone. So some people have to work Observed holidays and no shock that BNY makes this muddled. Many others do not. In 47 years (no I’m not the notorious 42), in financial services I’ve always been off Friday for a Saturday holiday and Monday for a Sunday. It all depends on what you do so let’s be a little kind to each other here. And hoping it works out for all. We all deserve it in this place!
It may be a work day, but I won’t be doing any actual work!
@ar NEVER!! Saturday holiday has always been a floater. Sunday holiday observed on Mondays. How long have you been at BNY?
@aw actually OP isnt a mo--n but you clearly are for that statement. This is the very topic on my team right now dipsh-t. Fed is actually open which means those of us who deal with money movement are now definitely stuck working since this has been confirmed regardless of what bnys calendar says. Is it bullsh-t? sure is. But dont comment calling names when you clearly have zero clue wtf you are saying
@ar Do your research before commenting. Banks, the federal reserve, USPS, DTC, etc. are all open that day. Are you new to the company? Any time a holiday has fallen on a Saturday, the company gives employees a floating holiday because the company is not closed the Friday before. You and @ap should look it up before name calling. They were just asking a question. No need to be a d*^~.
Seriously? Federal US holidays that fall on a Saturday are always observed on the Friday. Are you a summer intern?
There are no floating holidays for 2026 so we’re now going to be stuck working or stuck using a vacation day.
Yeah it means even though bny has it in our calendar observing the holiday, you’re now getting stuck working anyway
@OP their website says banks are open but the board of governors is closed july 3
